The ministry of Roma kids aliteration

This year we continued the ministry with Roma kids in our neighbourhood having in mind a few goals for them:

- To learn to write and to recognize alphabeth (especially with the older ones)

- For 3 of the girls, who were not attending school, to get used to reading and writing (we worked with special notebooks for the kindergarden class)

To stimulate their creativity and to teach them to work in teams.

- To inspire in them a love for school and learning

The children we have in our group are between the age of 8 and 13. In the beginning of this year only four of them were attending school but now six of them do. Catalin, the oldest one of them, is 13 and is in the 3rd grade because he had to repeat the last year several times.

There are many causes that brought him in the situation of repeating the year. This situation is the same for all of the kids in the group, because all of them have had to repeat at least one year.

Seleuș - King's Kids

In March this year we started going in a Roma neighborhood in one of the villages near Medias. We wanted to start again the children’s ministry that once took place there and now was stopped.

From the very beginning we were excited to see children’s openness. They would come to us, hug us and curiously ask us question after question. In a short time we started building friendships with them and their families through our children programs. Twice a week we would gather all the children together and climb on a hill to play football, tell bible stories and sing about Jesus. If there is a word to describe this season in our ministry, it’s playfulness and joy.

As summer came we started being more and more concerned about the many illiterate children from the zone. How was it to have 9 years and still be in the first grade? God started opening us doors in a local school and we began a summer school in one of the school’s classes. Together with almost 20 Roma children we started a long adventure of learning reading and writing skills.

Kids Club ministry - Constanta

"It is exciting to see how God has provided for us as a ministry at every step since we have begun working with the kids here in Constanta.  We stepped out in faith with almost nothing, just a heart for kids in need and God has shown his faithfulness time and time again, providing wonderful people to serve with and resources.

We trust God for continued growth and impact in the kids lives!"

Youth camps - Prod 2011

The following week we had a 5-days camp for youth, where we had a great group of teenagers who were hungry after God.

One of the boys told us that originally he didn’t want to come to the camp and that he only came because of his mother’s pressure. After the camp he said that it was one of the best camps he had ever been to! He felt so accepted and loved.

The open nights we had were also special. Many young people from surrounding villages came to our meetings and together we worshipped God. We heard teachings and we prayed for one another.

We can say that God is faithful in all the things. His desire is to see this new generation reached for Him!

As YWAM we are growing in networking with different churches and ministries, investing together in the same vision. In 2012we will run the camps again and this time we will try to extend and multiply our ministry.

Children Camp - Prod 2011

Together with the staff we were around 100 people in Prod. We had children coming from more than 11 locations: from 3 orphanages and from different locations where YWAM has ministries.

Children who came from difficult backgrounds or dysfunctional families now had opportunity to understand how much God loves them and wants to be their Father and Saviour who gives hope for future. By praying for them and comforting them in their hurts and wounds we were able to show them God’s love.

We also had fun together, we sang and we danced for Jesus. We played different games and listened creative Bible lessons. Each staff member used his or hers talent to give their best for the children.

Kids Dumbraveni

Everything started in April when we decided to go to Dumbrevani to pray for the town and to understand what God wanted us to do there. This way we ended up in a blockhouse neighborhood where we soon made friends with about 20-30 children. For some months we continued going in the neighborhood to play, talk, discuss life with the children. All this took action under the attent eyes of their parents that were, some suspicious and some happy, standing in their apartment balcons around the small park we were doing our activity in.

The moment we started talking about Jesus controversies started as well. One of the children’s mothers forbid her daughter to come to or activity any more while other parents were happy we were teaching their children about God, for “at least they now know something about Him”, as one of them said.

Adventure weekend

In August we succeeded to organize a mini-camp for young people. We wanted it to be a camp especially for non-Christians, but not only, and that is how it was. Altogether we had 21 people, and 11 of them were not evangelical Christians or they were not coming from evangelical families. We had youth from the orphanage that we had worked with for two years, boys from Roma community near our base, boys from Dumbraveni, the city where we are planting a church, and youth from Botosani. We rejoiced together worshiping and talking about God’s love, eating Chinese food, praying for missionaries and doing team building games, etc. We tried to discuss a principle of the Kingdom of God through each activity we had; when having worship, discussions, team building games or when preparing food.

DTS Mediaș 2011

I meet with the students to prepare for outreach and I feel like I don't have energy not even for myself, even less to motivate them. We are praying and I get a thought to gather materials for the project: notebooks, books, toys, sweets, medical materials. My question is how to start to gather all this things if we are not even sure if we are going. The logical way is to raise first money for the plane ticket and then to gather the materials. It is not easy to do the things with faithfulness when I don't understand. I start to work and the thoughts of doubt come. I am nervous regarding the finances. Now I don't have to worry only for myself but for all the team.

DTS Cahul 2011

"In the beginning for many it seemed like a crazy idea the first Discipleship Training School in Republic of Moldova. It was something like"from nothing with nothing" to disciple youth. But it was the time that God choose and no one succeed to stop this ministry.

I remember the day of 31st of January 2010 when I received an email from someone that they want to donate 2000 Euros for the first DTS in Moldova. It was the most special gift for me from God. After 2 weeks I have received an email that the donation will be of 6000 Euros. I was overwhelmed of the way He chosen to work and to bless the future students. I knew nothing can stay against Him to stop His glory.

Dinamic 2011

Since the end of January 2011 I am the leader of Dinamic. Dinamic is a group of youth from 14-17 years old. Because I did not know Romanian very well I needed someone to translate me. This meant there was always someone with me. It was very hard for me in the beginning to get to know the girls, because the only way I could communicate was through translation. But after a while I got to know them and they started to open themselves for me. The first month there were only 5 girl in the group. From the beginning of March a group of girls from Mosna came. They liked Dinamic and started to come at regular base. This meant the group had 10 girls. Every month there was a theme were was a Bible study of. I gave the Bible study, or I invited someone from church. Besides the Bible studies we watched some movies related to the theme. After the movie we discussed. We also read from the bible and had a discussion about that. We also had a time that we played game and we got to know each other better. Besides the studies we also played some games and we were singing worship songs. By lack of a guitar we sung without. In July there came some more people from Mosna and now there are even coming two boys.

ProMission Festival

Beni si Daniela - liderii ProMisiuneProMission Festival continued to be a place where we were able to let ourselves transformed to have an impact in all the nations. About 50 youth from all over Romania and also from other nations, gather in Dezna, Arad county, to be used by God in expanding His Kingdom. We had David Gava as a main speaker, he is a man of God, dedicated, and he touched topics like: identity, hearing God’s voice, and also he talked about the fact that knowing God cannot leave us indifferent but it will motivate us to ACTION. Action could mean to get out of your comfort zone and be available for God by serving others. Action can mean to be close to your brother when he falls and to raise him up. To look at someone else’s need and intervene. Action could mean to hear God’s voice when He calls you and go tell the world about Him. God does not look at our abilities, He looks at our availability.

What Others Say About Us?

Image"For breadth of involvement, magnitude and creativity, few organizations can match the dynamic distinctives of YWAM. God has greatly used Loren Cunningham and the thousands who have served with YWAM. And many, many will be eternally grateful as a result."
